One man's meat is another man's poison

Look at the idiom above. I'm sure you understand what it means.

HENCE, WE CAN THUS CONCLUDE THAT EVEN THOUGH YOU LIKE CAMPS AND ENJOY CAMPS AND LOOOOVE GOING FOR CAMPS, IT DOESN'T MEAN I DO.

I was hoping that after a long day, I would be able to go home happy and contented that I actually survived 4 hours of Guides. It almost came true, ALMOST. The ending changed everything drastically. I sat there under the hot evening sun, waiting for the teacher to stop ranting on and on about Guides activities. Then 2 phrases caught my attention...

"Annual Camp ... compulsory ... June ..."
"Sec 3 NCO Camp ... June ..."

I acted indifferent, but of course deep down, I was silently screaming out in agony, "NOOOOOOOOOOOO.............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I have no idea how I managed to sit through the entire briefing because all I felt like doing was crying and crying and crying...

Let me get this clear, I not only HATE camps, I DREAD THEM, in fact, just talking about them makes me feel sick. Don't come and start telling me about how you get to bond with your friends or learn new things. In camps, the only thing I learn is to appreciate my family because I get HOMESICK in camps, and VERY BADLY too. Don't ask me to what extent, scroll down, read the long post in light blue font, and you've got yourself an example.

Firstly, you should not force someone to do something they don't want to do, you don't have the rights to, its their life, who are you to interfere? Well, many people would love to poke their noses into your life and start ordering you about because they feel its "necessary" and "compulsory". That is downright unreasonable. If I do not want to go to camp, but you force me to, I won't be having fun there anyway, which defeats the whole purpose. I will just be there looking miserable and listless and drowning in self-pity because I'm too homesick to do anything(except go home).

Secondly, if you love camps and don't mind going for camps, then you are most welcome to take my place! One person in the place of two, isn't it double the fun for you? No need to thank me, I would be very willing to give up my place! Oh yes, since you like it so much, you can go camp with the other camp-enthusiasts. Why drag me in? It's not my problem you LOVE camps. Hey, I love watching Korean dramas but I don't drag you in to watch it with me right? You aren't being fair. Some people like camps, others don't, you have to respect their interests and if they don't want to go for camps, they should never be forced to.

And you know what? I don't see why camps should be overnight. we will be able to perform better the next day if you let us go home. What you are doing in camp and doing at home at night is the same -- sleeping. Might as well let us get better quality sleep at home right? I dread camp not because of the activities but because I have to stay overnight. It was a very very very tough ordeal that took me great strength and courage to overcome. Till now, I'm still equally scared of overnights.

And if you want to have overnight camps, then please make sure that both camps are far apart on your calendar. If I were to go for both camps, I only have FOUR days to REST AND WASH MY CLOTHES(NOT YO MENTION PACK THEM AGAIN) before setting off for the next one. I don't have a maid like you who can wash clothes for me every day and iron them in just four days. I don't have infinite energy like you to only need to rest for 4 days before another camp.
I AM NOT LIKE YOU.

And before I end my long long long grumbly post, I woul like to ask everyone? What are the objectives of camps? (besides the bonding part that I stated earlier, which is irrelevant to me) Right, the main objective of camps is to help us appreciate our homes better by letting us live in not-so-hygenic/sanitised conditions with poor living standards like our parents in teh '70s. I've got nothing wrong with that. Except that my great grand parents didn't have anyone rushing them when they bathed, or didn't have to wear hot stuffy track pants, or didn't need to do PT every morning. And I've not even gone to part where they can live with their family under one roof.

This post is getting sickening and I know it. I am so anti-camp, and if you feel offended by it, well, too bad, because I'ma lso offended by your "I love camp." sentences.

Since I am in mortal danger of being scolded for this psot, I shall remove part of it, but I am still SAVING it in MS Word.

What i got

I am now officially 15! It feels to weird to say that you're 15 when for the past year I have been saying "I'm 14." I can now make my IC. I can now have a black-and-white photo on a pink plastic card showing that I am a citizen of the Republic of Singapore and I no longer need to flash my blu-ish EZ-Link card to prove my age because I now have a document that verifies everything that umm... needs to be verified. I can hear you all screaming, "LAME!!!!!!" which is pretty much what it is, but you can't expect me to be getting my IC and NOT be excited about it. XD

I used to get really happy on my birthdays, and over-excited. This year was no different. I had literally too much energy. 7th April 2007 was one of those rare days where I could sleep in and wake up with that feeling that you have the ability and the energy to complete whatever you have to do on that day. i celebrated my birthday a week ago on 31st March together with 'mois(whose birthday, if you guys don't already know, is on 4th April) and I got what else? presents! I got loads, and the most number of presents I got was from umm... myself with the angbao money i got.

This is what I got from others:

1) Angbaos (one with a $25 'Sembawang' voucher inside)

2) A soft plushie that is really more of a bolster and is so nice to hug!

3) A pink watch

4) 8 birthday SMSes + 1 birthday MMS from my cousin which I deleted as soon as I saw it because it was a photo of this woman with a disfigured mouth(You know the smoking one)

5) A DimSum high-tea treat at Ngee Ann City

6) 1 birthday song from my church youth group and 1 from my cousins(even though most of them didn't really sing XD)

7) 1 purple notebook from this shop called 'claire's' that CANNOT be found in Singapore. It sells all those cute stuff like hairties, notebooks and earrings. I first saw it in Bern, Switzerland.

8) A Disney(I forgot which character) mug and spoon set

9) A bear notebook and inside, a drawing of me in anime form(hmm... interesting)

10) A jigsaw puzzle which is supposed to show a colourful message(from the artistic Cherise who wanted to show her "sincerity") when you piece it together, except that I haven't, yet.

11) A metal key-chain with monkeys hanging on it like a charm bracelet.

12) 1 of those calenders which you have to turn those cubes to show the date and month. I got it in black and white plastic.

Presents I got for myself:

1) BoA -- Made in Twenty(20) CD+DVD

2) Ayumi Hamasaki -- Best2Black & Best2White CDs+DVDs
